Control panel
Introduction
On the publish form, and on a member's profile, an Autograph field behaves one of two ways, chosen by Sign in the Control Panel in its field settings. (In 1.x the setting was called Save in Control Panel.)
Off: the signature, read-only (the default)
Editors see the signature as it was saved, with what's known about it: Saved in the entry or Saved as signature_….png, and when it was signed. There's no pad, so an editor can't sign on somebody's behalf.
- Open shows a file-saved signature in a new tab.
- Remove clears the signature when the entry is saved. Until then, Keep puts it back.
Saving the entry without touching the field keeps the signature exactly as it was. When there's no signature yet, the field says Not signed yet.
Use this when signatures must come from the person signing, through a Channel Form or a member form.
On: the pad
The field shows the signing pad, with Undo and Clear, styled to match the control panel. A saved signature is drawn on the pad when the entry opens.
Editors can sign, sign over the saved signature, or Clear it, and the change is saved with the entry.
Use this when signatures are collected in person, on a tablet signed into the control panel.
